ONCE UPON A TIME
fuckyeahancienthistory: (and by that I mean 1279 - 1213 BCE), there was a dude named Ramses II ruling over Egypt. Otherwise known as Ramses the Great. And he was pretty damn spectacular.  Read More those girls over at fuckyeahancienthistory know their stuff, and they know how to present it in a fun, informative, often lol-worthy format.  Check ‘em out!

Mega-flood filled the Mediterranean in months  →
morningstar: I wouldnt attribute this event to the ‘Great Flood’ myth that most Mesopotamian/ Aryan / European / North African ancient peoples spoke of (as the article points to ‘Noah’ of Biblical times). The main reason would be the time disparity: 5+ million years ago is a bit before humans arrived on the biosphere’s horizon. It is more likely that the Great Flood event described in the Bible...

der-erlkoenig asked: Since you are about on the Knights of the Round Table, could you perhaps post about Galahad? :)

Oh, and I inquired a few days ago about the Morrigon of Irish Mythology, did you not get it? Or if you're just really busy, I understand.

Anonymous asked: Western mythology (and ill include Germanic/Celtic/Norse in there) is something so typically covered, it really only appeals to those with a very surface level knowledge of mythology. Could you expand out of the basic Greco-Roman-Norse-Egyptian bit and perhaps include (a lot more of) Mesopotamian, Central Asian, South Asian (besides India), Chinese, Japanese, Pacific Islander, South American...

Hello, Mythfans!
We’re up, we’re back, and we’re ready to bring you a teaspoon of hot mythology every day. Remember the good times we’ve had? Excited for the good times we’re sure to have? Why not sling a recommendation our way? No pressure, but it would almost definitely make the ancient powers of this world look upon you with favour.

ariannekic asked: HI! I'm pretty well-versed with the Greek and Roman myths. i was wondering if you can broaden my understanding of the egyptian myths, like who's who and the relationship existing among these gods. who's the mightiest of them all? is it Ra? but why is it that he is often paired/linked with another god? --this is where the egyptian myths get confusing for me.. i hope you can shed some...

Anonymous asked: Is it true that the Greek and the Roman gods are not exactly the same? I mean, is it wrong to say that the Roman gods are just the Greek gods with different names?

(Sidenote: I thought of this question while reading The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan.)
